No two skin types are exactly alike—baby skin is delicate, and sensitive, dry skin on kids of any age requires extra TLC. Therefore, no two skincare routines should be alike.
My two kids have very different skin types, and here, I’ll share their individual skincare routines. The beauty of Bubbsi is that our three products can meet the needs of many different ages & skin types. I hope this helps you find the routine that’s best for your little bub.

My Kids’ Skincare Routines
I have two little ones: Alekh, my 5-year-old son with regular skin that gets occasionally dry, and Juhi, my almost 3-year-old daughter who’s newborn eczema inspired me to start Bubbsi. Her skin is much more sensitive to the elements than Alekh’s, but luckily she now only has occasional dry patches and some redness from her nighttime diapers.
We start the day moisturizing with our Whipped Coconut Oil Body Cream. The formula makes their skin super soft and Alekh loves a quick massage on his calves and feet. Massage is a great way to bond and helps to promote brain development, circulation, and relaxation. For Juhi, we add touches of Coconut Oil Balm on her dry spots to lock in the moisture. This two-step process protects those sensitive areas of her skin and keeps them soft and protected.
Alekh showers every evening with our Creamy Coconut Oil Shampoo + Wash. Because Juhi’s skin is much more sensitive to dryness, we try to shower her every other day unless she’s been outside a lot or gotten extra dirty. If her skin feels extra dry, I wash her with our Oil Balm instead of the Shampoo + Wash for extra nourishment. After bath time, when the skin is still damp, we again apply the Body Cream.
Because Juhi is still transitioning out of diapers, I use our Coconut Oil Balm on her bum when I start to see some redness. Coconut oil is antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory, making this a great formula for protecting diaper area!
My Recommendations
My skincare routines for Alekh and Juhi are super simple and easy to apply to your family’s day-to-day rituals. Whether your little one has normal or dry skin, or whether they are not so little anymore, we’ve got you (and your kid’s skin) covered!
Your routine really boils down to two questions: how old is your little one, and what is his / her skin type? Click the option that best describes each of your children below for my recommendations!

Please note that this advice is based on my personal experience, and not meant to be taken as medical advice. Your pediatrician should always be your first resource on skincare.
Baby (under 3) with Regular or Oily Skin
The whole gang has everything you need for your skincare & diapering routine:
- MOISTURIZE with a Body Cream massage 1-2x a day and especially when skin is damp from bath to ensure maximum absorption.
- CLEANSE with Shampoo & Wash 1-3 times a week (as recommended by the Pediatric Academy). Baby’s skin barrier is still forming, and more exposure to soap & water can be over-drying. If you feel you need an extra cleanse on private parts in between baths, opt for the gently cleansing Oil Balm. When rubbed on skin under water, our Oil Balm lifts away impurities while replenishing skin’s oil content.
- PROTECT & RESTORE: Use our Oil Balm as an all-natural diaper cream (remember—coconut oil is antibacterial, anti-fungal AND anti-inflammatory!) and/or to remove cradle cap, if needed.
Baby (under 3) with Dry or Sensitive Skin
The whole gang has everything you need for your skincare & diapering routine:
- MOISTURIZE with a Body Cream massage 1-2x a day and especially when skin is damp from bath to ensure maximum absorption.
- PROTECT & RESTORE: After each moisture massage, layer Oil Balm over the Body Cream on dry patches to lock in moisture on those sensitive spots. Also use Oil Balm as an all-natural diaper cream (remember—coconut oil is antibacterial, anti-fungal AND anti-inflammatory!) and/or to remove cradle cap, if needed.
Older Kids (over 3) with Regular or Oily Skin
Older kids like my Alekh can do without the extra Oil Balm protection. Our Body Cream and Shampoo + Wash should cover your needs.
- MOISTURIZE: You don’t have to be a baby to enjoy a massage! Use our Body Cream for a fun massage & tickle session 1-2 times a day. See my tips on massage here.
- CLEANSE: Use the Shampoo + Wash 3-5 times a week (or as needed) in the bath. Simple as that!
Older Kids (over 3) with Dry or Sensitive Skin
Use the whole gang in the following ways:
- MOISTURIZE with a Body Cream massage 1-2x a day and especially while the skin is still damp from bath to ensure maximum absorption.
- PROTECT & RESTORE: After each moisture massage, layer Oil Balm over the Body Cream on dry patches to lock in moisture and restore sensitive spots.
- CLEANSE with Shampoo & Wash 3-5 times a week. Although our products are gentle enough for everyday use, frequent exposure to water or any soap can be over-drying to skin. If you feel you need an extra cleanse on private parts during the week, opt for our gently cleansing Oil Balm. When rubbed on skin under water, our Oil Balm lifts away impurities while replenishing skin’s oil content.
