Sulfate-free and made from 95% naturally-derived ingredients
Sulfates are a type of synthetic surfactant – molecules that attract oil and water to remove dirt and grime - commonly used in shampoos and body washes. In addition to cleansing, they also help create the bubbly lather we all love. However, sulfates can be too harsh - stripping the hair and scalp of natural bacteria-fighting proteins and water-proofing oils that are necessary for keeping moisture. In stripping important protective oils from scalp, hair and skin, sulfates overshoot the mark. Frequent use can cause dryness in skin and scalp. Sulfates can also destroy the skin's natural fat, which is crucial to fortifying the skin's barrier.
In place of sulfates, our Bubbsi Shampoo + Body Wash uses a natural cleansing agent called Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate. It is a mild vegetable-based ingredient that acts as a light surfactant, allowing it to clean baby’s skin and hair in a very gentle way. Furthermore, this formula is composed of 95% organic, natural and naturally-derived ingredients and is EU compliant, which means we don’t use any of the 1,400 ingredients that are banned in EU personal care products.
A high level of moisturizers
Our Shampoo + Body Wash has a unique nourishing composition with roughly a third of the formula being an “oily phase” (i.e., oils and butters), which is much higher than the average creamy wash. Coconut oil, Shea Butter and Sunflower Seed Oil give this product its creamy composition and leave skin feeling super soft, never stripped and hair looking shiny.
Won’t hurt your lil piggy’s eyes!
Our shampoo is composed of ingredients that are known to be very gentle. Other shampoos that contain sulfates can be overly harsh, as we mentioned earlier. These sulfates are irritating as they alter proteins from the skin and eye cell membranes. This leads to immune and inflammatory reactions like redness, swelling, and stinging. Instead, our formula uses ultra-gentle alternatives and has been safety tested in a lab to confirm that there is no likelihood of eye irritation.
Curious how we test for this? The researchers use a hen’s egg, which has membranes that very closely simulate the membranes in a human eye (but experiences no pain). They apply the formula to this membrane and look for signs of irritation. Our formula showed none.

Enough oink-ing about how amazing this Shampoo + Body Wash is. Below are some tips to get the most out of this little piggy.
- For the best lather, wet hands and use a quarter-sized amount. Work up a lather in your hands first and then apply to skin and hair. Its high level of natural and cream content mean you won’t see a lot of bubbles, but it is definitely working!
- It’s gentle enough for everyday use, but in accordance with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), we suggest one to three baths a week for littlest bubs (0-1 years) and increasing frequency as they get older (and dirtier!).
- After cleansing with our Shampoo + Body Wash, sealing in hydration while skin is still damp is key! We recommend moisturizing after tub times with our ultra-nourishing Coconut-Oil Body Cream.
